Season 6 Premiere: LA X

February 2nd, 2010 by Caryn

Hi everyone! Hope you're all excited for tonight's premiere. It's FINALLY here! Please feel free to share your reactions in the comments section. ;)

Lost: The Final Chapter

I've never been much of one for the one hour recaps they play beore each season premiere, but I'm kinda liking the focus: character by character rather than just a chronological timeline of what happened.

-Am I the only one slightly creeped out by Michael Emerson's voice describing his own character's life?
-Sawyer is SO perfect in the 70's. Just sayin'.
-Classic Hurley: "You might want to fasten your seat belt"
-I look at Locke SO much differently now that we know for sure that he's really dead. Who is impersonating him?
-Who is the man in black? Jacob's nemesis? I hope we find out tonight...haha (that laugh is me dreaming).
-Hurley + Miles talking about Time Travel = Best dialogue ever.
-I REALLY hope Juliet is not dead...:(

LA X pt. 1

-Does Jack remember everything?
-AHH! The crash doesn't happen!! Bernard is back!
-DESMOND is now on the flight?
-The island is at the bottom of the ocean. WHOA.
-Kate in a tree--with Miles? And they are still on the island.
-But also on Oceanic 815.
-Hurley is the luckiest guy alive? That plane ride is definitely an alternate reality. You know, kinda like what happened on the New Star Trek from last summer.
-Juliet is still alive, YAY
-Hurley is still my favorite: "I've got a gun! And I know how to shoot it!"
-I thought Jacob was dead! WHOA.
-awww, Boone. :) I've missed him.
-Why does Hurley always see dead people?
-Charlie OD'd in the bathroom, then asks "Am I alive?" How ironic, haha.
-The smoke monster. Is Jacob's nemesis. And it shape shifts. WHOA.
-Uh oh. What did Juliet have to say that was really important? I can't believe she's dead. :( :( :(
-So it's Jack's fault that Juliet dies, and Jack's fault that Charlie lives. Poor guy never seems to get anything right.
-SO...no Shannon? Michael? Walt? What about the Tailies: Ana Lucia, Libby, Mr. Eko? Maybe now isn't the time to mention Nikki and Paolo, lol

LA X pt. 2

-Hey look, there's Honolulu Airport!
-Oceanic lost Christian Shepard's coffin. What could have happened?
-What was the Frenchman's name who got his arm pulled off? Dang it, I wish I'd had time to rewatch everything before this season...
-Yikes. How creepy can this temple get?
-WOW, check out the REAL temple! From Egyptian statues to Mayan pyramids...What's next?
-Kate, of course, gets away from the warden. Not a bad move, stealing Jack's pen!
-Juliet's last words: "It worked" What the heck is THAT supposed to mean?
-Who's the Japanese Other? And guitar case is filled with a giant ankh? With a letter inside that says Sayid must live.
-I'm going to take this commercial break to say: I have NO idea what is going on. Help!
-Why won't Sun help Jin by speaking English?
-Saving vs. drowning....noooo! Sayid can't be dead!! I can't believe we've lost Juliet AND Sayid in a single episode. I think this is too much for me to take. :(
-Loving all the shots of HNL
-Side note: Hurley's phone conversation about the Outback is hilarious
-CLAIRE!
-Smokey wants to go home--to the temple?
-"Nothing's irreversible" - Now that's a reversal: Jack gives Locke hope, not the other way around!
-Richard knows who 'he' is. What is his name?!
-SAYID LIVES! HALLELUJAH!!

Let the discussion begin.

Sunset on the Beach

People, it was Ridiculous. Yes, with a capital 'R.'

So many people from so many places converged upon a single section of Waikiki's beachfront Saturday that I could barely move, see, or breathe.

But it was awesome. I was only feet away from all of our favorite characters, looking exactly the way they do on TV. Evangeline Lilly is drop-dead gorgeous. So is Yunjin Kim. Josh Holloway's smile literally dazzled me--the man is smokin' HOT. And speaking of smoking, Naveen Andrews does. He's also a lot smaller IRL than they make him look on the show.

All I had was my poor little overworked point-and-shoot, and with the dim light of dusk, my pictures of the stars are pretty pathetic. Instead of sharing their blurriness with you, I'll direct you to our staff gallery by Norm Shapiro. There was also a live video stream, which you can watch on replay, and our official story written by staffer Mike Gordon.

One of the best parts of being there, part of a huge mass of Lost fanatics, was hearing some of the comments (catcalls?) made as I moved through the crowd:

To Josh Holloway: "Josh!! My name is Josh, too!"
With a thick accent: "Look this way, Evangeline! I came all the way from Italy to see you!"
Crowds chanting at people standing 5 and 6 deep in the aisles (and blocking the screen): "SIT DOWN, SIT DOWN, SIT DOWN!"
To Terry O'Quinn: "I love you, John Locke! You're my favorite."
When Michael Emerson appeared: "It's Ben! Hurry, get him now before he kills us all!"

I heard people speaking Spanish, Italian, German, and (of course) Japanese. There were people set up all the way to the waterline, and thousands more picking their way across towels, mats, and sitting people. And parking? What parking?

Finally, the sun went down, and finally, the screen lit up.

And then they showed the 8:15 minute video clip I posted here on this blog earlier this month. And THEN, they showed the first hour of tomorrow's premiere.

Which I'm not going to spoil, no matter how much my fingers itch to type something out!

Until tomorrow, my friends...hope you're excited!

Tomorrow's the big day!

Can't wait to go to Sunset on the Beach tomorrow night. Who is planning to be there?

If you see me walking around with my little point and shoot camera, don't be shy to stop me and introduce yourself--I'd love to meet you and put faces to blog handles. ;)

Details: The premiere will start around 6:30-7 p.m., but I'd get there well before that to secure parking and a decent place to watch--it's going to be PACKED! You'll also want to be early to catch a glimpse of all the stars walking the 'red carpet.' Reminder, it's only going to be the first hour of the 2-hour premiere, so we're all going to have to watch again on Tuesday to see the rest of it.

Also, be sure to visit The Advertiser's 'Lost' minisite--there are links to some press photo galleries, stories, and this blog, of course. :)

See ya tomorrow!

Will you be at Sunset on the Beach?

Then you will not want to miss out on getting an exclusive Hawaii Lost Fan Club t-shirt, which will debut that evening.

The shirts are being made by local Lost guru Ryan Ozawa, who says that the 'safe' deadline for ordering is Jan. 18th (Monday).

Visit the Hawaii Lost Fan Club web site to get yours. ;)

Speaking of Ryan, I love visiting his many web sites because he is THE go-to guy on the island when it comes to filming locations, spoilers, and photos. He's set up a site of Lost filming locations, takes lots of cool photos, and puts out weekly Lost podcasts with his wife, Jen.

Just yesterday, he posted video of the film crew driving a car into a Waikiki marina.

If you haven't already been following Ryan, set aside a few hours to explore all the great material he's collected over the past 5 seasons--it's definitely a feast for any Lost fanatic.

In other news, ABC has officially announced that there will be no sequels or spinoffs of Lost after the show ends later this year. Awww...

Team Darlton did, however, reveal that Libby (played by actor Cynthia Watros) will be back this season. Looking forward to learning more about her backstory!
