Odds and ends

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008

In case you didn’t notice, there is some ‘Lost’ related breaking news up on The Advertiser’s homepage.

Glad to see that the ‘tidal wave’ of ‘terror’ will be contained for the next few years.

Other interesting tidbits:

-Harold Perrineau (Michael) isn’t too happy with his character’s sudden and explosive demise.

-If you haven’t yet, watch the alternate endings. I think Locke was the best, most intriguing choice for ‘the body in the coffin’.

-Also, I forgot to post Doc’s analysis on the season finale. As always, it’s full of wild ideas and unexpected tidbits.

Finale party Thursday

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

Well, Losties in Hawai’i, turns out there will be a finale party after all. Unfortunately, I won’t be in attendance (my brother is graduating from Kahuku that night), but there will be ‘Others’ there who are infinitely more interesting!!

Teddy Wells (co-owner of Tropical Smoothie Cafe and Lost ‘Other’ Ivan) tells me that he’s invited the actors who play ‘Others’ on the show to a season finale/reunion party at the smoothie shop this Thursday. Sounds to me like a great opportunity to mingle with cast members, collect autographs, and dig for Lost secrets!

The finale airs from 8-10 p.m., with the first part of the finale rebroadcast at 7. Get there early to get settled with a smoothie and meet some ‘Others’.

As for getting there:

Tropical Smoothie is located by the Ala Moana mall at 88 Piikoi St., at the corner of Piikoi and Waimanu. It is located in the GROUND FLOOR corner of the KHON building.

Parking is easy: There is some free parking in the KHON building– the first spaces on the left in the garage are designated with signs for Tropical Smoothie customers. There is always plenty of street parking in the evenings on Waimanu St. as well. The store phone is 593-7373‎.

PLEASE let me know how it goes…wish I could be there!

another hiatus

Monday, May 19th, 2008

After all the waiting that we seem to do to get new episodes, it shouldn’t surprise any of us that we need to defer yet another week to get at the last 2 hours of the Season 4 finale.

If you want to watch reruns this week, “Something Nice Back Home” (Jack, flashforward) and “Cabin Fever”  (Locke, flashback) will air Wednesday night from 7 - 9 p.m. on ABC. I know they won’t take the place of a new episode, but maybe you’ll notice something new the second time around–if you do, be sure to share!

In the meantime, I’ll be holding my breath until next week’s episode, slated to run from 8 - 10 p.m. Thursday (5/29).

It’s TOMORROW!!

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008

Who’s ready?

The new episode, entitled “The Shape of Things to Come,” is loaded with promise. ABC’s synopsis says that “Locke’s camp comes under attack, and Jack tries to discover the identity of a body that has washed ashore.” Action, plot advancement, and mystery–just what we’ve been waiting for!

For those looking for a place to watch tomorrow night (don’t forget, it starts at 9 p.m. now) Teddy Wells has once again graciously offered his Smoothie Shop:

Tropical Smoothie Cafe at the corner of Piikoi and Waimanu will stay open until 10:00pm the next four Thursday evenings (starting April 24th) so that all the “Losties” can still come by and watch the newest episodes on our big screen TVs. (Kitchen will close at 9:00pm, however.) We still have a few season IV T-shirts and caps available as well. Call the Cafe at 593-7373 if you need more information.

Unfortunately, I won’t be there tomorrow night as I’m speaking at a scholarship awards dinner. I’ll be dying with suspense, since I won’t get to watch it live! At any rate, make sure to drop by Friday morning for the discussion. =)

Also, anyone interested in helping out a fellow Lostie, Chris Damitio, who is crafting his UH thesis around Lost?

Hi guys! I finally got consent from the internal review board to do my Thesis project on Lost. I’ve been in a holding pattern for months while they decided it was okay.

Can you guys help me out with my project? I’ve attached a short survey that it would be really helpful to have 50 or so people complete. Also i am looking for people who are involved in solving the technical puzzles that lost presents for a specific portion of my thesis…if you or anyone you know has participated in The Lost Experience, the interactive puzzles, or getting into the extremely technical side of things, I would love to hear from you.

Send him an email if you’re interested in taking the survey.

Last, has anyone checked out the new Lost game ABC launched last week? It’s called LOSTSCAPE, and after you get through some nifty opening credits, you can begin play–basically, you have to ‘find’ Lost-related objects on the island. If you find seven (plus a special item) of the 34 items, you can enter the Lostscape sweepstakes; the winner of the sweepstakes gets a free trip to this year’s Comic Con in San Diego.

The new and improved HAD blogosphere

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

Hi, everyone!

Hope you’ve made the transition over here ok. There may have been a couple of posts and comments lost in the shuffle–sorry!

What do you think about the new Advertiser site? Don’t forget to visit the new myAdvertiser under the ‘Neighborhoods’ link–it’s what I do when I’m NOT trying to figure out who’s in that coffin… ;)

I realize that there isn’t much to talk about now that Lost is on hiatus for the next month, but I’m always looking for filming tips/actor sightings/photos that you would like to share. A couple of not-so-important tidbits:

Final votes are in: Desmond cleaned house with 62.4% of the championship vote to clinch the title ‘Best Lost Character Ever’ in the Washington Post’s ‘Lost Madness‘ bracket competition.

And if you’re a fanatical Lostie, DocArzt’s blog offers some distractions this month with his Hiatus Survival Kit. The entry reasons with us to “think of this as a relationship break. Imagine Lost said to you “We need to take a break and see other people,” and we, the fine folks of DocArzt.com, have put together a list of prospective dates that share the same qualities that drew you into Lost’s seductive charm in the first place. They will be thrown into categories, then reviewed, and if that wasn’t cruel enough, we will proceed to rate them on a scale of 1 to 6 Dharma Bunnies.”

Happy withdrawals!
